  • Integrated 98 R1 prekat tail splice

So I decided to go ahead and order a tail light for a an 98 99 R1. I'm planning on splicing it in with the pre kat tail light by plastic welding. has anyone ever tried anything like this? just curious cuz I'm basically shooting in the dark. Suggestions & tips welcome! http://www.socalmotoparts.com/listin...0466_thumb.jpg

It looks small enouph to fit inside the Kat's factory lense. If thats the case then you maybe able to just cut to holes in the factory lense and paint it to match your fairings.
There are several modified fairing Kats here so I'm sure its not impossible.
Good luck with it. Post some pics after its done.

i was thinking of that as well and just using some sort of brackets or what have you to get it in there securely. I guess I'll just have to wait till it arrives and I'll come up with something. I'll definitely post some pics

HemiKat built his own, think he used the R1 as well.

I used an 02 R1 Taillight, but just the board. It was an integrated unit from Lockhart Phillips. Other than swapping in a variable load flasher, its basically a wire for wire hooked up.
