Great work so far. I can't wait to see that tail light in action.

ok guys... got some more done today....

started by priming the main fairings

then, wet sand, paint and clear

then it was time to wet sand some more, and buff buff buff... then buff some more

and then.. i did another test fit... to see how it was starting to look... the main fairing still needs wet sanded and buffed

now, i got ALOT of wet sanding and buffing ahead of me.... by far the longest and hardest part of the whole paint job.... so once i get that done, it's time to move on to the next thing... stay tuned!!

ok guys.... after three days of work i finally got the reat wheel done... i did a two tone color scheme (which was a PITA!), but was well worth it... pictures really do not give this rim justice... it just looks amazing!!

so first... taping, taping and more taping

then came primer... since i was painting instead of powder coating, i decided to do about four coats on primer, paint and clear... just to make it as tough as possible

then came the paint... for the spokes, i went with a metallic blue with flakes... really gives it a GREAT look

its hard to tell in the pic, but the metal flakes look awesome

i wasnt sure if i wanted to go with two tone, or a polished lip... but once i saw the paint with the polished lip, i decided i didnt like it

so, with the lip i decided to go with a pearl white... it came out great

i also decided to paint the brake rotor, rear hub, and sprocket... i think it really came out good

the brake rotor, in blue with the bolt heads done in white

and the sprocket and hub... the hub i did in white, and sprocket in metallic white

all in all, it was ALOT of work just for the rear rim... but it was well worth it... now all i have to do is start on the front rim, and then i can start on the next project... stay tuned guys.. more to come

What kind of paint and primer are you using?

I think the two tone wheels are going to look great. I'm getting ready to have mine powder coated black, but after seeing yours, I'm starting to re-think it.
            Nice work

on the fairings i used krylon primer, paint, and clear... but i didnt like the clear too much... didnt lay on right... had to lay about 5 coats, wet sand, and buff just to get a good shine... and the prep work was meticulous

on the rims i used rustoleom metal tech.... protects against corrosion, and has a nice flake to it

it depends... if you got the cash to go with PC, then i would do it... it holds up better then regular paint, and you dont have to spend 3 days working on 1 rim (if your as much as a perfectionist as i am).... but if your like me, a cheap b@stard , then it's worth the time and effort... and will cost you maybe 20 bucks in supplies

ok guys.... big amount of updates... finally got a good amount done,

                  so here goes...

first, i finally got both rims done

then i pulled the swingarm to clean and paint it...

                  and the finished paint

i even went as far as painting the adjuster caps..

and the finished product on the bike

and i also did a custom two tone on the gas cap

AND NOW... onto the best finished product so far... the front end, completely done!

first... here's a test fit i did with the front wheel once it was done

then, i painted the calipers, as well as the lower forks... wanted to go with the same color you see on SS bikes....

and here is the finished product!!

and a close up, so you can see the details...

and i also started painting my helmet to match the bike... but more to come with that.

MUCH MORE TO COME GUYS!!! the bike is finally starting to come together, so STAY TUNED!!

Looking really good! What do you think of the clear. I know you said you had to put on 5 coats. I painted my undercowl black. I have a red 05 and was wanting to go all black everything. What type of paint did you use on the heal guard and break pedel? Would you rather paint or Powder Coat?

it would have looked better if you would have just had the rims polished
it looks ok, but polished would be sweeeeeet

hey airforceranger49, this is one awesome bike man! I want to ask you, where did you get the turn-signal mirrors and the Katana decal that it had before the change? Also, what size rear tire you have?

the katana decal i actually made myself at my old job (we had a very nice, $20,000 graphic machine)... the turn signals are one off... did them myself
