I can't really answer your questions, but please be aware... using that on your bike in PA means your tag mounting would not be up to code... and could result in a ticket.

    § 47.2. Location.

    (a) Single plate. A single registration plate shall be located on the rear of the vehicle so as to be illuminated by the license plate light required by 75 Pa.C.S. § 4303(b) (relating to general lighting requirements), except that the registration plate of a truck-tractor shall be located on the front of the vehicle.
    § 47.3. Manner of attachment.

Every registration plate shall be securely fastened to the vehicle:
    (1) So as to be clearly visible.
    (2) In a horizontal position.
    (3) At a height of not less than 12 inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of the registration plate. (4) So as to prevent the registration plate from swinging.
    Just letting ya know.

that's kinda nifty looking... especially if you got it chromed or painted... too bad those are also illegal here in florida... gotta be horizontal, lighted, and something like 2 feet off the ground... and if you don't... it's a $1000 fine the first time. 2nd time is 2k i think, and 3rd time is 3k plus license suspension. something along those lines

Information included at this site has been derived directly from the Pennsylvania Code, the Commonwealth's official publication of rules and regulations and from the Pennsylvania Bulletin, the Commonwealth's official gazette for information and rulemaking

            or

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes includes Pennsylvania state laws on commerce and trade, corporations, estates, domestic relations, education, health and safety, insurance, real and personal property, taxation and vehicles.

It would look like the answer is no...

            From the Inspection section...

§ 175.146. Lighting and electrical systems.

            (j) Registration plate lamp. A registration plate lamp, if originally equipped, shall emit white light and make the registration plate visible from a distance of 50 feet to the rear of the vehicle.

In general, most lighting changes are not legal for road use. Almost every state has similar laws prohibiting lighting modifications. You can instal it, as long as it's not used on the road, so put it all on a switch. Off road, or in parking lots your generally fine. Keep the stock lighting stock, and work around that, and you should not have any issues.
