Well, if the new owners were just plain STUPID enough to not forsee the possibility that BJ might disappear completely, like he apparently has done, and didn't leave themselves an escape route in the event that happened... shame on them.

There, I've said. Been wanting to get that out there for months.

      So, sue me.

well, you know....sometimes people do things for 'the greater good'. this case being the good of the social network we have here at KR. Otherwise KR wouldn't be here, BJ was going to just shut it down.

It's always easy to criticize someone's decisions in hindsight though, isn't it?

if BJ was any kind of a man of character he would release KR from his "deal"
From what I have read , I think he lost his rights along time ago

            thats my two cents worth!

But i dont have an issue with some one shutting down their company.....But refund money to people for the product they paid for when you shut the company down.

I dont think any one here would have an issue with BRAADA if that had happened....In stead he just took their money and ran, and the mods because of a deal about a forum defend him because like the rest of us like it here....but it's not right what he did....KR aside i'd rather see this place shut down and ppl get their money back then to leave ppl hanging with these crappy times the $250 they cost i'm sure could be used back by the members that paid and never received their cowl

Well, that's true, I suppose, but if the new owners have a contractual obligation with BraadaJim to ban all mention of all other other cowls for sale, I think it may be time to seek the advise of a lawyer, to see if that deal can't be renegeotated or nullified. If BJ is not making cowls anymore, I would think he would have little issue with the doors being opened to someone else, who makes cowls, moving twards becoming a supporting vendor.

Really, I understand and agree with the "greater good" idea, here. I was a bit over the top with my post, and although I had a point to make, I could have done it better. This issue is going to keep coming up, either brought up intentionally by someone who is just so sick of the way this cowl thing is enforced and has decided he/she does not give a dead rat's a-- about getting banned, or by normal Katriders who just innocently stumble upon the cow patty (or is that "cowl patty?.")

I will commend the mods for allowing this thread to continue (unless it gets closed while I am typing- something that has happened at least twice, here). I see it as healthy. This cowl thing needs to be worked out, for the "greater good" of this virtual community.

Oh, and dionnele was misunderstood- he was talking about Seat TOWELS...

i dont understand the problem if this braada jim guy isn't making them anymore. I understand he had a monopoly on the cowl thing but in the game of "Monopoly" you can't collect rent unless you own the property.

not sure if my metaphor makes sense... im just confused as to why this guy would care anymore if he doesn't even make them anymore.

braada.com doesn't even exist anymore so if the contract states anything along the lines of cowls can only be sold by braada.com, wouldn't the fact that the braada.com website is closed breach braada's end of the contract... therefore no more contract?

I would say that KR has kept up their end of the bargain (quite painfully is seems from the existence of this tread) if one party does not uphold their part I would also agree it is breech of contract, and if there is a member here that has lost money in a transaction that was based on that contract. I would consider the contract a done deal. My $.02 take it as you will.

Well, I'm kinda glad this thread stayed open. I've been here since the KP days and I still don't know what the whole deal is (Please, someone, feel free to PM me with the details 'cause I'd really like to know).

if the problem revolves around listing all of the cowl options available on KR then maybe there's a way around it to satisfy everyone. I'm more than happy to add a page to the Resource Directory for Katana mods and resources that would include ALL cowl manufacturers. Since it's a private concern I don't see a problem. All resources should be made available to anyone that wants them.

The topic of cowls, and BraadaJim has never been, and will never be a topic that gets debated. Period. End of discussion.
