Originally posted by PROBN4LIFnope, it's a direct swap. i didn't change anything as the pics show. the only thing you need is the taillight and the bracket that holds it. the bracket is $6 and the stock light is usually $10 on ebay.

Nice mod... I may have to think about doing this in the winter if I can find a good price on some 03+ tail plastics.
I'd like to do this and install an integrated taillight & turnsignal setup. Anything that will make the rear of the bike look more simple and clean.I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. Here you go modders.... there is a 2003 tail on ebay for sale. I'd get it but I've spent WAY too much money on bike stuff the last couple of weeks and there is no way I can afford anything else for a couple months.

When you say the taillight is required...do you mean just the lens and the bracket? Can the orginal bulb be mated up to work or did you have to purchase the lens and bulb assembly.
