I have seen some very impressive rattle can jobs done. Its all in the prep and sanding between layers of paint. I usually cut the cost by 2/3rds if I have someone else paint for me because I do all the prep and all the final sanding before I let them clear coat it.
The only reason I don't shoot the paint myself is because I don't have the space or feel like forking out $250.00 for a quart of House of Color when I only need about 6 to 8 ounces.
I really want to get into some custom painting. I just need the teacher.
