  • Rear rim paint help (polished lip clear coat, black options?

    i am in the process of painting my rear rim. i am doing a black/polished combo.

    i want to clearcoat the polished parts of the rim because i don't want to have to keep polishing it ect... but i was wondering if the clear will stick to it (and hold up) without a primer of any sort? this will be a rattlecan job, so i can't use anything exotic.

    I am also trying to decide whether to go with flat black or glossy black. If i leave it flat black, should i just leave it primered or is there some other paint i should use after it? if glossy, again, any special type of paint/clearcoat because it is on a rim or just normal?

    Thanks for the help

      Try Dupli-Color Rim Paint. They make a clear, and it shouldn't need any primer or anything considering what it is being used for. That, and I don't think they make a clear coat powder coat.

          Thanks, i will check out the clear rim pain

          powdercoat = $$$ = no dice

          If I use that clear over the black primer i am assuming it will become shiney?

          Thanks for the help
