  • Black is beautiful...

Hated the shiny pieces, seemed out of place.
Trip to the powder coaters took care of that.

Looks good, I'm not a fan of those pieces being chromed either.

It is one thing that just about everyone comments about.
"Nice bike. Why are those things so shiny?"
Never liked them, now they are gone.

Hmm, I would have chosen a different color. I have the same chrome heal guards, and I am thinking of doing them either in Lollypop blue (matches the Blue on the 06 Kat), or possibly black chrome. I also am not a big fan of regular chrome..I don't hate it, but Im not one to have a ton of it on my bike either.
It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride.

A different color would obviously cost more.
I had the option to go with a "shinier" black.
Decided not to as I would have been replacing
one type of shiny for a different one.
Thought about blue, but if it was only just a
little bit off shade it would have looked bad.
Different strokes and all that rot.

I like what you did there. They do tend to stand out like a sore thumb on the 600's. I have seen a few others do that with the heel guards and IMO, it cleans up the lower section of the bike nicely, gives the fairings a cleaner break from the frame/swingarm section and enhances the 'sweep' they have across the bottom towards the tail section.

I almost wonder what it would look like if I had done them white.
The fairing sections on the lower half of the bike are white, sooooo...
Naahhh... that would make too much white down there.
              Black it is.
