Seems like I recall a member actually using velcro, so the mesh could easily be removed for repairs.

As for holding the mesh in place while the glue dries, I used canned goods. Worked like a charm.
Great Idea, Cans I didn't think of that.

I used clear epoxy when I did mine. Wasn't hard at all. After taking the plastics off, just had to cut the mesh a bit bigger than the opening, then bent, shaped, and snipped the ends to perfection. Used a brick to hold the mesh in place, then glued with epoxy and let dry.
I used clear Jb weld to held it in place I got the 5 min cure stuff. We use the red RTV on door seal on the airplanes at work so I knew that stuff was the Sh**. So I finish it off with the red stuff for the best bond

Yeah, Liquid Steel is a putty, i got it from wal-mart also near the JB Weld. Comes in about a 4 inch tube. U mush it between ur fingers and then form it to the way u want it then stick the mesh down onto it and let it harden.

instead of painting the exposed sealer black, why not just use a sharpie? same effect and cheaper than paint

I'm wondering if I should paint mine black? :
This "Phat Chick" rides her own!!!
BTW, I think they may have been correct. It does appear that BLACK is indeed the FASTEST color. R.O.R...R.I.P.M

Anyone do this to a pre-98? I've been thinking about doing it to mine when I take the tank off for painting.
