i'm looking to paint my bike, but i can't afford the paint right now. so i'm thinking of going the canned spray-paint route. the gf says no, that'll make it look cheap. if anyone here has any pics of their bike painted with canned spray paint, could you please post 'em up?? tia

You can get a very good finish with a spray can, but you have to put the same amount of work into the prep and post-spray work that you do with a traditional paint job.
Most rattle can paints are far from fuel resistant, though. You have to be very careful at gas stops or you'll end up repainting your tank.I like you. When the world is mine your death will be quick and painless.

The above is right on - your paint job is only as good as your prep work and technique will allow.
Bear in mind, you need to sand, prep, prime, sand, paint, color sand, clear, sand - even when just doing a rattle can job.
Find a local paint shop and talk to them - do all your prep yourself, take the parts in off the bike and see when they have a big job. If you are not picky about color, you may be able to get them to shoot your pieces with some extra for a minimal amount.I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity. -- Edgar Allan Poe
