  • Painting Heel Guards

Okay so these crome Heel Guards look out of place since there is no other chrome on the bike, what is the best way to paint them obviously I must remove the chrome by what means should I do this?

I would think you could just scratch them up with some 220 grit sand paper and then primer them.

they aren't chrome, there polished aluminum. Powder coat them black or whatever color you like.

actually, I take that back. I have 98+ 750 rear sets (the heel guard is built in) thats aluminum, not even polished just silver. The 600 I have no idea. I don't think anything would come chromed though, that costs money.

The 600 has CHROME heal guards...nothing like the 750..if they look like this, and are this shiny, they are chrome.

could try sand blasting then prime and sand then paint. Or else there is a product out from alsa that is clear for chrome I believe. you can mix a candy in with it and clear right on chrome and supposedly its supposed to stick somehow. it does go beyond any basic principles of painting though. or you could use the clear for chrome then scuff when dry and paint whatever color you want.

The heel guards are plated steel. Mine is coming off. Best bet would be to sand blast them and then have them powder coated.
