  • New paint (Thanks Lou)

Thanks to Sweet Lou and his "how-to"
I gained the confidence to paint my Kat.
This is one coat, looks way better then I would have hoped.
I have some more sanding to do however:
    No drips.
    No sags.
    No tiger stripes.

I got good one coat coverage of the tail and tank with one large can.
I'm impressed with the color (just what I imagined)
and the amount of metal. (Duplicolor Lt Blue Metallic)
I would have gone for 4 or 5 coats but hey it's prime riding season here..

I can't wait to get the rest of the coats on..
            However:
I noticed this morning that my tank bag scratched the paint.. I need to check and see if some trash is on the magnets. If not will the clear coat protect it? Or do I need to glue softer material to the magnet pads?

go to the store, look for that glad press and seal wrap, stick a sheet of that on your tank prior to putting your tank bag on

look closely at the magnets, they may be holding some metal shavings or something

and yes a good coat of clear will help protect the paint

Yeah I haven't been too carefull about where I set the bag down because the tank paint has always been bad..

Thanks for the "press and seal" tip!!

That looks pretty good! I really would have taken the time to do the rest of the caots though, you'll get a much better color with it, and it doesn't take much longer to add those other coats. Look'n good though!

Well Now I'm having trouble finding the paint.
I grabbed the one can to see if it was the right color.
Now I have to find 5 more cans..
Not as easy as I thought..

Checker Auto (Kreagans, and it is also called something else in other areas) carries Dupli-Color. If you have something like that in your area, check the out. Maybe they can order it for you as well. If you still can't find them, PM me, I am sure i could get it here, and just ship it to you. Oh yeah, I also can prolly get a discount on it
