  • Pre 98 600 and 750 Frame Differences ((Warning 56k!!))

    Hiya KR,
I just aquired a new Pre 98 Frame to get my project off the ground I was using a 600 frame from a 93, but now im using a 89 frame from a 750. there are some differences just in the frame alone.
    Here we go...
The Grey/silver/rust colored frame is the 600 and the black frame is the 750 frame.

    Enjoy!!

Here are the two frames side by side.

Lets start up front. Under the Main bar there is this bar on a 600

now the bar is the same on the 750, with a little differences (This is a CA Emission Mount Point - Thanks wcj!!))

now on to where the main frame meets the tail..

    Heres the 600

here's the 750 (notice the extra Bar??))

the other side, both the 600 and the 750 have the same bar

Onto the Tail - this is where alot of different mounts and braces are located

the first cross bar on the 600

    same bar on the 750

    note the knob is missing

    Heres the next cross bar
    the 600

    heres the 750

note the opposite offset in the bolt holes

    Final Cross bar
the 600 has a smaller bar

    now the 750

Note the beefier crossbar with two extra bolt holes

now going for mount points for the Rear Fairing attachements we find these differences

This bracket is nowhere to be found on the 600

Arsenic told me about this one
    the 600

    and the 750

on the 750 there is this piece of metal on the left passenger peg

no where to be found on the 600.

here is an extra mount point on the 600

that is missing off the 750

on the 750 there is this bracket
its not on the 600 ((different angle from the preceeding notice))

I think i nailed them all-
    there ya go KR,

Plug all unnessairy holes and shave all brackets and such which you won't use anymore, welld anything you want to and have that sucker PC'd.

Clarification: the 750 frame i got is a California Frame.
So the First Picture, i believe is a mount point for some of the Emission stuff. Anyone got a Pre 750 with the Left fairing off to confirm this please?

The one bracket on the right side of the tail is for the damper adjuster knob . 600 don't have those , so no need for the bracket . .

The 750 cowling brace has an extra bracket on it... but I dunno what it's for.

I'll look when I get home and see if anything is actually attached to it. My plastic if off the bike so I should be able to tell pretty easily.

Good post. This topic has been raised many times. Are you interested in ID'ing all the differences?

I basically did the thread to show the differances that i could spot on the two frames sitting side by side. Plus the photos help In Identifiying if a frame is a 750 or a 600 (For the potential Restorer's out there)
