Polishing tank progress, any tips?

    thanks for all the tips...it's great to learn from the experiences of others. however, i wish i had known how much work this was gonna be. i hope mine comes out at least as good as mystahagy's. i've been thinking about the dreaded 'mirror effect' and decided not to make it shine like glass. i think i'm going for the 'brushed steel' look. i also stripped and rubbed the hell out of engine cage bars...me thinks it's looking gude so far.

      That's probably a good idea. I spent two weeks polishing to get to a mirror shine, then clear coated it and it looks "brushed". aagghh.... Also the clear coat isn't as sticky to such smooth bare metal. Although it was almost mirrored, the grain on mine still shows, and the shine it now has comes from the clear coat, so with your method it will probably be just as shiny.
