99 fender eliminator question

hey,

Ive searched with no luck so im reposting a question that im sure has been asked before.

I have a 99 katana 600 and i want to remove the "shovel" and put in flush turn signals...

anyone know how i can cheaply remove the fender... i dont have $150 for a kit, but it would be nice to remove it.

Also, how would i mount the flush turn signals? will i have to drill into the plastic or what?

and if anyone has pics of this it would be a great help
