  • New paint -- With pictures

Okay, so I am repainting my kat. I already have the color, which is a metallic burnt orange (it looks pretty sweet). I already have most of the scheme done. All the fairings are going to be this orange color, the tank + seat + grab bar are going to stay black. My only issue is the rear fairing. I know that everyone seems to have it silver on the bottom, but I don't know if I want to do that. The bike is going to be almost all orange or black aside from the exhaust (and maybe part of the frame hehe).

So I guess I have a few options.

    1. Paint the whole rear fairing orange
    2. Paint the top of the rear fairing orange and the bottom silver
    3. Paint the top of the rear fairing orange, bottom silver and the bottom tip orange
    4. Paint the top of the rear fairing orange with the bottom black
    5. Paint the top of the rear fairing orange, bottom black and tip orange

The rear fairing I am talking about is the one that is under the seat (has the key hole for removing the seat in it). Its black and silver in the picture below.

This is a test of the color:

This is what I ended up going with:

        I vote option 1.

The pre-98 750's actually had an aluminum piece over the plastic, but the 600's were painted silver from the factory.
I never really liked the looks of it myself.
But this is your bike man. Sweet color!

constructive critisim: you either did not put on enough clear, or you are not putting it on wet enough. if you put it on too thin, it will dry too fast to flow to a shine. you want to put it on to the edge of running.

or it could be just the photos. if you find you are not getting the shine you like, try going a bit wetter during application.
I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Well, it didn't get the shine I wanted, but its a metallic color and its not that bad. I'll have some decent pictures coming later tonight.
