Yes all post ie.98up front fairings are the same it is the tails that are different.

So if I'm understanding this right 98-06 fairing and 03-06 tail will fit on my 99... but I would still have to upgrade the tail light and headlight and whatever else? So that means it should be plug and play I shouldn't have to do any cutting.

The tail is not different. 98-02 are the same 03-06 the tail is different. 1999 and 2001 are the exact same thing.

Like Arsenic said, it isn't the tail that is different. You might see a difference in tail light if the owner changed the stock one to a after market one.

I just got some fairings from a 09 but as im looking at it in person they are 100% different from my 99 fairings and the headlight are different as well. anyone know if it will still fit I would hate to have to pull everything off only to found out it wont fit. I get the feeling I might have to make it work somehow.
