  • 525 front sprocket for a kat/Bandit?

Hi I'm wondering if any one has run into a 525 front sprocket for a 600 Kat or Bandit. I'm doing a GSXR 5.5 rear wheel convertion on my 89 600 project and I'm starting to look around for a chain set up. I can find plenty of 520 and 530 front sprockets for the Bandit 600 motor I'll be running, and lots of 520 and 525 rear sprockets for the gsxr wheel/cush drive. I could always settle on a 520 ft & rear. But I have a new Vortex 525 rear sprocket that I paid nearly nothing for and would like to use if I can find a 525 front.
    Thanks Richard

Pretty sure the splines are the same, and most front sprockets would be interchangeable. You can check with vortex's website, they should have enough info for you to tell.

All gsxr's from 88 to date and 89 to the last year Kat share the same front C/S sprocket spline pattern, tooth count may change. Look at the KR store.. custom sprockets can be had there...

Thats what I thought but if it true it seams like the 520 FS for both the Kat and GSXR would be the same part number? I'll look again but it seams they where different.

yes.. part #'s will be different.. but its the spline that matters.. all the gsxr/kat/bandit's are a z-13 spline...

A resource I just used showed just about all kawi, yammi, and suzuki street models able to use the same sprocket for the front.

If you buying, I second using 7th gear designs (in the KR sales link)... good stuff!

Cool thanks that helps now I just have to decide on a ratio. The sprocket I've got for the back is a 45t so if I use that all do a 14t front I don't want to go any higher then that. Or I just might bite the bullet and just do a 14/47.

14/45 will put you at 3.21 and a bit more off the line acceleration, a 15/45 is 3.00 and will put you a little bit closer to more top end.. depending how you plan on riding it.. and the 14/47 you mentioned is a 3.36 even more toward the top end of the chart... I'd go with the a 15/45 that would put you in the middle and it would be a better choice i think.
