So my new RK chain came today and it's covered in goo. By goo I mean a thick, sticky white grease. I don't like the idea of having this stuff on my chain (I'm an oil guy, the grease seems like a magnet for dirt), can I just soak the chain in kerosene and then oil it up good or should I just apply oil in addition to the grease?

The directions that came with my EK chains said to soak them in Kerosene for 24 hours, then scrub vigorously before installing.
I opted just to leave the goo on, and will give the chains a good scrubbing before we head to the gap.-Steve

I left the goo on mine as well, can't hurt any considering it is lubricant. I'll probably wipe it off soon enough though, I'm sick of it splattering onto my polished wheels.

I use Pro Honda chain lube with moly, usually isn't too bad.
