45 tooth sprocket on a 600

I changed from a 49 tooth to a 45. I like the rpm change on the highway and its not that big of a difference around town I will have to go in on a speedohealer to correct the difference. I will buy a 50 tooth later on for fun, but i like the taller gearing better.

Has any one else done this change?

yes the front sprocket is stock. I rode to work and it is all highway miles and it was a nice change from the 49 tooth. I had almost no vibration and the exceleration was still good.

You netted yourself a 8.5% change in gearing ratios, since stock would be 47 tooth, and you went from +2 to -2 in the rear. For people who do a lot of highway cruising at a steady speed, this mod makes good sense, and can easily be overcome at lower RPM's around town by simply riding higher in the powerband.

PS - your rear tire should last a wee bit longer, too
