There are quite a few bad "reviews" and opinions from people who have never owned Shinkos on that forum.
They use 4 different rubber compounds on 4 different tires/tread patterns.
003 Race (very soft)
005 sport radial (soft)
006 podium (medium)
009 sport touring (hard)
If you want a longer lasting tire get a harder rubber compound if you want the grip go for a softer tire, but expect the tire to wear faster.
From what I could gather from internet searches: After the earthquake in Japan destroyed the Yokohama bike tire factory they contracted a Korea company to make their tires. Yokohma decided to get out of the motorcycle tire business and sold everything to Shinko.
I also have never tried them as I already had a set of Continentals waiting to be put on. My Continentals were also made in Korea.
Next time I need a set of tires I'll give the Shinkos a try.
