    Compressing rear spring

    Any one ever do this?
I have some ideas for making a compressor but don't want
to reinvent the wheel. I'm disassembling the Shock to paint it

K... Got it off... the crescents sort of worked..
It was a bit more work than I think it should have been.

Now to paint everything and get it together without tearing up the paint

    Tried that..
Actually high quality machinest clamps called
    "Kant-twist".. no dice..

I have some cresent shaped plates here that I'm
going to give a try. I think if they work they will
also mar the new paint the least..

If it works Buc I'll loan them to you..

Hmmmmmmm...I was just thinking about the same type of tool last week.
I too want to paint my spring.

Please post what you come up with.

I've never disassembled the rear shock(s) on my bikes, so no, I haven't used one on a Kat or other bike. For me, it's always been a case of either paint it in place (just mask the inner unit) or replace the whole shock with a better one (if it needs to be rebuilt anyway).

    [edited for typo/meaning]
I wouldn't think the coils wouldn't be significantly smaller on a Kat than on some of the smallest import cars in any case...

    Cheers

I'm wondering if that tool is too big..
Have you used it on a bike shock?

    JC Whitney part # ZX126859R

I'm sure they have something similar at the local auto parts store.

    Cheers
