no lowering links that i know of exist because pre98 kat dog bones are curved with bearings. you can have local welders make them however, at own risk. probably best way is to get a corbin(generally 1/2" shorter than stock height seat) and go down a series in tires, so 170/70 go to a 120/60 or something. that should give you near that inch

Best bet would be to talk to somebody that rebuilds seats.
          For example...http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm
They can cut it however you want.
If you do use one of these companies, I would recommend
that you get a second seat off of e-bay. That way if they need
to do recuts or refoaming, you are not without a bike for long.

You can lower the front by loosening the TT clamps and sliding the fork tubes up a half inch of so, and have you tried to play with suspension setting at all?

                  I'll say this:
The issue with lowering links on the Pre 98 is:
                  1. the link curves
                  2. the link has a bearing.

That means a lowering link needs to be:
                  a. the old one cut and welded
                  b. machined ($$$)
