General
You may need to take the four carbs apart from each other. Some reasons to do this are:
1. You need to replace one of the carb bodies.
2. You need to replace broken or mangled linkage.
3. You need to replace a leaking fuel T
4. You need to dip the bodies to clean the small passages out.
5. You need to remove the choke plungers.
While not all of the parts in this list need to be replaced every time you rebuild the carbs, there is a general theory that if you're replacing parts then you may as well replace all the wear parts in that assembly. This is especially true if you've just bought a used bike that's been sitting for a couple of years. Think of it this way: Would you rather spend a few extra bucks replacing good parts or find yourself pulling the carbs back out and driving across town to the dealer (again) to buy one more $2 part? It's your bike, your wallet, your time and your decision.
Hopefully you never have to go beyond a Basic rebuild unless it's part of the price of buying a used bike. If that's the case, you can (and should!) use the following lists of parts as a bargaining tool to get the seller to lower the sale price below blue book. As you can see from the lists below, the cost of rebuilding all four carbs skyrockets once you start replacing more than the basics. Even reputable sellers of rebuilt carbs don't generally replace everything on all four carbs. If they did they'd go broke!

Pre 98
Basic
Plan on replacing all o-rings, the vacuum hose and fuel hoses. Total cost: about $100
(4) Diaphragm bottom O-rings: Size #7 common plumbing part
(4) Large O-rings for floats: Part # 13374-35C00: $5.04 each
(4) Small O-rings for floats: Part # 13374-46710: $3.62 each
(4) O-rings for vacuum ports: Part # 13509-17C00: $3.46 each
(1) Long fuel Hose, Carbs 3 & 4: Part # 09343-07501: $10.94 each
Or use generic 8mm ID x 350mm long fuel hose
(1) Short Fuel Hose, Carbs 1 & 2: Part # 09343-07502: $7.17 each
Or use generic 8mm ID x 150mm long fuel hose
(2) Clamp, Bottom: Part # 09401-12403: $1.62 each
(2) Clamp, Top: Part # 09401-11415: $2.28 each
(1) Vacuum hose: Part # 13684-20C00: $22.24 each
Or use generic 5mm ID x 380 mm long hose
Thorough
Plan on replacing everything above plus the items in the following list as needed. Total cost for everything: about $472 (Obviously, having to replace everything on all 4 carbs gets prohibitively expensive. At this point it's time to start thinking about only replacing bad parts on individual carbs or just replacing the carbs with a set of re-built ones from a reputable source.)
(4) Bowl gaskets: Part # 13258-44B00: $7.94 each
(4) Float Needles: K+L Part # 18-8944: ~$13.00 each
(4) Diaphragm: Part # 13507-17C01: $22.10 each
(4) Needle Jet (Emulsion Tube): Part # 09494-00875: $31.70 each
(4) O-Ring (Emulsion Tube): (OEM Unavailable) O-ring, 10mm x 1.5mm: ~$10.00 each
(4) Needle: Part # 13383-20C10: $11.26 each
(4) Main Jet: Varies by model: $7.78 each Worst Case
This is where you get into a total carb refurb, including separating the carbs from each other. Plan on replacing everything above plus the items in the following list as needed. Total cost for everything: about $740 (Can we say just buy some new carbs?!!)
(4) Float/Needle Valve Assembly: Part # 13250-20C10: $67.86 each
(4) Rubber fuel "Tee" seal: Part # 13673-44B00: $3.71 each
(2) Fuel Tee Nipple: Part # 13685-44B00: $9.29 each
(4) Rubber stopper plugs: Part # 13357-34C00: $3.71 each

Prices are not really needed, but knowing the specific size of the O-ring or screw being used would be much more helpful.

RULE # 1 is DON'T mess with things that you don't know anything about! (Take them to a pro & pay them to fix it)

Pre98 600 & 750
Fuel line hose connections and diagrams.
1 = B 2 = A 3 = D, A vacuum line from carbs to petcock. 4 = California Model Emissions Vent/Drain (note many of the CA models were sold in other states.) 5 = E, Filler Neck Over Flow 6 = Vent/Drain Hose for fuel sender unit.
4, 5, 6 all run to the bottom of the bike and are uncapped drain lines.

Petcock (Noun). Device to limit or stop the flow of fuel. It is named a Fuel Cock in the Suzuki parts inventory system and most service manuals.
