  • Swingarm 1100 to 750 AK11

    Hey Specialists,

does anyone of you know how to fit a 1100 GSXF (Katana) swingarm on to an 750 Ak GSXF (Katana)?

What must be changed or what do I have to do (exept changing both swingarms ?)

I´d like to change the swingarm because the 1100 looks better and I can mount a Backtire from an early 750 GSXR with an 190 Tire on it....
    (So I don´t need a stator anymore )

I hope I could discribe my problem with my bad english......

Hey, i have this done to my bike. I did not do this mod, but had to correct things to make it work correctly or just be safe! As far as i can see it bolts to the frame and rear shock just fine. THe problem that I faced was that the control arms/lifts/whatever they are called? (bars that hang vertically) were not installed nicely on the bike. The person before me used the 750 bolt/spacer which was not long enough. Get the 1100 bolt & spacer, or do what I did and get some spacers from your local home center and make it up. I was told this was from a '95 1100, but doing a search it seems they never made them. Swingarm does look like a 90-93 1100 swingarm from ron ayers microfiche though. Rear rim has a 180 tire on it, and it looks great on the bike. Maybe the rim was from a 95 750? Anyways, it will work as far as i can tell, but I am a newbie to the Kat so I dont know. I can get some pics for you if you want.
      Thanks, Joe

thank you very much for your posting.. your name tells me, that your bike is an 1990 built Kat, isn´t it??

Anyway some pics will be great and should help me. Your rearbrake is originally and there is no modification done on it?? That my second placed most importend question .
My most importend is very difficult to ask for me, because I don´t know the right english words, but I will do my best to get a translation later..

Well, I hope you can take some pics for me and I can make my mod on my bike.. When I finished it, I´ll take some pics for you!!

Thx a lot for your answer!!

PM me your question and I'll try to translate it for you bro.

As a matter off fact I've bought a 1100F swingarm, 5.5" Gixerrim, brakerotor, axle, cushdrive aso it's laying on the shelf now, wanted to use it but decided for the SS-arm.
For the swap I guess you'll run into the common problems (not enough clearance between subframe and swingarm, the need for spacers aso)

              Hi Kwebbel,

you´ve listened all my problems... Right now, I´ve got only the complete swingarm with the complete rear cushion lever,Axles,

Things to buy are 5,5" Wheel from a Gixxer, Brake rotator, cushdrive (is this the item mounted on the back wheel for the chain?? German word "Kettenrad"??)

I was looking for my parts her : http://www.ronayers.com

Does the rear shock absorber from a 2001 Kat fit??

The cushdrive is the piece the sprocket is attached too, it's got rubber shockabsorbers.

You will have to mod the linking system off the 1100 Katana swing anyway so using the Kat shock won't be a problem.
Biggest issue will be the relocating off the subrails and making the spacers you'll need.

For the Gixxer rim, like I said I've got one laying on the shelf it's straight ,dentfree but it needs repainting, along with that I've got an allmost new brakerotor and the cushdrive, make me an acceptable offer and we have a deal.
As a bonus I'll CNC you the spacers you'll need according to your specs.

Thank you for your help anyway!!!!!
