So my "88 Kat1100 is torn down for some winter repairs. Had to take upper main fairing bracket off to weld new nut at the mirror mount. The PO had it stripped. Now is the time to lube the power window track. Yes it did move up and down but very slow, and that was even while engine is running. So with the windshield off I can see the window sash (the piece that is slides in the side tracks) has 4 points where there are little red colored bushings that guide it in the side tracks. Well, those bushings are all broken up in pieces. Now I know why the window moved slow, along with all the sticky black grease on the drive chain. Now what to do. I go in the house to wash up and guess what's on the kitchen counter, one of those plastic cooking spoons with a round handle. A quick check and the handle is the same dia. as those little red bushings! After cutting 4 proper length pieces I then use a Dremel with a small router bit and "miter" a slot in the bushings. Fixed! Now, with the motor off the drive chain I can use one finger and slide the window sash up and down easy.
