  • Hey yall im new

I've always wanted to ride and I've always wanted a katana however I am a beginner rider. I recently just finished msf school and fell in love with the sport even more! I just bought an 06' black katana. I'm really enjoying this forum and look forward to learning more. Everybodys telling me I'm gonna get killed and watchin stupid people drive has gotten me a little spooked and nervouse but I'm determined to learn how to be a safe rider with confidence. I would love to hear any and all advice anyone has to offer.

Just keep your eyes sharp and know your way out of a situation and you'll be just fine.

Welcome! and congratulations on the bike.

Welcome........always look ahead when riding and expect the drivers to do something out of the usual and you will be fine. Also make sure you are not in their blind spot.

                    ...

The Katana is not that bad for a first bike (I would have recommended others) but it is a LOT more mellow than it's brother the GSXR and it has a comfortable (thus instilling confidence) riding position.

Heck my girlfriend just took her MSF class 2 weeks ago and she went out and bought a Ducati Monster 696 (lighter, faster and more powerful than the Kat) and she is doing great.

Just plan your routes and practice as much as possible in parking lots and less traveled roads before tackling unknown territory!

Oh yeah, remember CAGES (CARS) ARE ALL TRYING TO KILL YOU!

                    cheers

relaaaaax! that's the best thing you can do for yourself!
be cautious, but don't be uptight.
always look far ahead and play the "what if" game (what if that car cuts me off, what can i do? what if that car turns in front of me, what can i do?).. soon it'll just be second nature, and you'll be well prepared for most riding inconveniences!

                      have fun!
                      =)
the kat may be the gixxer's retarded cousin, but she's a hefty broad... and i do loves me some girth between my thighs.
