  • sv1000 bars on my 750

You guys may have seen my posts about making a bar riser for my post 750.

Originally I mounted a MX ProTaper bar on the riser.

But after a couple of weeks I found the bars too wide and a little too straight, i.e. not enough pull-back on the bars.

So I started researching other Suzuki bikes that had a more 'standard' riding position and selected the 1200 Bandit and SV1000 bars which both had 3" rise, 26" width and 6" pull back. (the MX bars where (2-1/2" rise, 32 width and 4" pull back).

I looked specifically for Suzuki bars because I was confident the grips, controls, etc. would bolt right up.

The only minor glitch is the knurling on the bars doesn't line up with the 7/8 bar mounts but the mounts have enough clamping force to prevent any bar movement.

The only additional part I had to modify was to install a longer brake line from the reservoir to the front brake line splitter.

Anyways... here are a couple of pics.

The bars mount behind the forks now instead of in front of the forks.

The bars are flatter and higher now.

I got the clear lens here

I made the taller wind deflector by adding a chopped Euro Speed Screen from Lockhart Phillips to the stock windscreen. I can now ride up to 100KM/h with the visor up.

      ...stock bars

I'm sure some time we can get together if you want to see the bars in person... we're close by afterall.

also, are you going to keep the stock tree cover/bar mounts of sell them? Mine is rough and if the carbon cover I got doesn't cover it up right I'm gonna have to be in the market for a new top cover

I haven't decided if I'm going to sell the stock handlebars and bar mount... Likely I will.

One other benefit of the new bar placement is that I can actually see behind me.

Even with CP's mirror extenders I could only see my arms and shoulders before the mod.
