  • Changed my mind.. I'm sorry

    I humbly apologise..
    I was wrong.
Sometimes you never really see the truth untill you
take the risk that you might be wrong.
    And do what it takes.
    I was wrong..
    *hangs head*

The Kat likes 89 octane better..

I'm getting way better milege with 89 than I got with 93..
Since there have been no changes in riding, tune or
driving routes it can only mean...
    I was wrong

My bike does not like anything but 93. I put anything other than 93 in it and it will run like crap.

                771... with 13:1 compression ratio

Yes, 87. I've run it on both Kats since the day I've owned them. The owners manual calls for it as well. The only time you need something more is if there a reason the compression ratio would have gone up, like a wiseco rebuild (which run 12:1 to 13:1 depending on over-bore amount), or a serious build-up of carbon deposits inside the cylinders... your stock Kat 750 is 10.5:1 compresison rato and the 600 is running at a meager 11.2:1 (that difference in compression ratios is why the Kat 750 does perform that much better than the Kat 600 -- at least not as much as one would expect solely from the displacement change).

                  Cheers,

Yup I did the same thing. Bike gets better gas mileage and performs better with 87.

Yes that would be my Kat. I have no clue it just runs better on 93. Cyber could be right that it is a 771. Maybe this coming winter I will do a complete tear down of my engine and clean it all up.

                              16.5:1 compression?

OK, now pull the other leg, it plays Jingle Bells!

Seriously though, Sin, why don't you just go ahead and engineer for diesel? You better never bring that thing down to sea level or she'll tear herself apart... That 1880 foot elevation difference is probably significant enough to keep it barely on the healthy side.

                              Cheers,
