  • What engine mods for a 2005 600 kat?

What kind of engine mods are possible for a 600cc 2005 kat and will it boost the performance much?
One of those days? New bike up to early and forget the kickstand on the side? Yeah had one of those it sucks...yea aint stopping it from falling thats for sure!

I'm not usually one of the "smart" guys who suggests using the search function, but....

You could at least scroll half way down the page to find this link http://www.katriders.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6369

    Good luck.

Okay so as it seems it would be best to get a bandit 1200S put in later when I want more power? I think ill do those things as my engine is low mileage but replace it with a bandit later for the true power.

would it be cheaper to put a bandit 1200 in or rebuild my 600cc with a bore and such. Price vs HP ratio wise?

leave the 600 as stock as you can....do not waste money on internals....do that to an older engine.

Do what Spedee recommended....but the cheapest bang for your buck...SPROCKETS....swap them out and you have a quicker bike for very little money.

Correct. Down one on the front and up three at the back and you have a whole new bike. Same chain length of 118 links. I rode with a stock Bandit 600 and a stock Katana 600 and I used one more liter everytime we filled our tanks. Not bad for the acceleration gains the sprockets gave me.

+1 I agree with Range and speedee. If you plan on changing out the engine latter why waste money on it now.

                hehe very true.

I dont plan on popping a bandit 1200 for awhile. Just got the bike so its got along time before I do that. I figured ill do the main mods but wont touch the engine.

then when its time ill just pop a 1200s bandit in later. Would be alot cheaper then a new bike plus I love the look of the katana!

Thanks guys. Time for some sprokets!

Anyone got a link for a site that sells what i need?

Look for Sprocketspecialists or whitebufalloracing (sp?) . I got some from White Bufallo for pretty cheap .

How many teeth do the front and rears have on the 05? Also, are they hard to change out?

                          around 130MPH top speed

With the standard sprocket and non-modified engine(even stock filter), I managed to top out a little over 130MPH. I believe I was almost redlining.
