    Need more details

    hit starter and....

    nothing
    clicks
    tries to turn over?

when my starter went it sounded like it was trying to turn, low grinding then would catch and fire up, turns out the gut's of my starter were toast.

just about any katana starter will work, I think I put a 88 kat starter on mine with some very minor modding.

Can't get it to run right? Find a trick to add HP?

Any 98+ should fit "out of the box".

FYI the only "modding" was ridiculously minor. Check out the pic in these 2 auctions.

See where the wire would attache in the pics? basically on a pre 98 starter you just have to widen the eye on the wire about 1mm so it'll fit, that's all.

I'd recommend waiting a day before buying one, there's quite a few very smart guys on here when it comes to fixing Kats. They may post up an easy fix when they see this thread tomorrow.

I was told it wasn't needed, but in the end I had to remove the air box, carbs and oil feed lines. It's not hard to do, no special tools are needed, it's just time consuming.
