K2 or K3 2002 Katana

When looking up parts online I see that there are two diffrent types of Katana's (750) for model year 2002. One is a listed as K2 and the other k3. What is diffrence between them? How do I tell?

98-2002 bikes parts should interchange with no issue
03-06 bikes parts should interchange with no issue

SOME, but not ALL parts 98-06 will interchange. Noticable differences include front forks, front wheel, and tail section.
