    Uuummm, no, it's not. Have you ever actually compared a 600 and a 750 cylinder block side by side? I have. They are two different things. You can't bore a 600 cylinder sleeve to a 750, there isn't enough material. The 600 and 750 cylinder head is different also. The 750 head has larger diameter valves. The cams are different also. They are two entirely different engines.

      My bad; just trying to write from memory. I remember an old magazine article that made the comparision to the 600 Katana and the original 750 Gsxr. In the design of the 600 Kat the cyclinder was down sized on the 600 Katana and used the old GSXR design. I have owned a 2001 600 Kat and currently own a 2000 750 Kat. Never have torn them down to the extent you have. I have enjoyed both bikes. Thanks for the update.

        The pre 600 and 750 are even more different than the 98+ 600 and 750. The pre 600 is a long stroke. The pre 750 is a short stroke, based on the 88-89 GSXR 750. 98+ GSXF 600 and 750 are at least both long strokes.

          Not sure exactly what part of florida you're in (too lazy to google) but I see cheap Katana's in south Fl. all the time. IMO get the 750 because you'll get tired of the 600 really fast so why not get the right one the first time. Here's 2 examples from down here and 1 from Naples. The one from Naples seems to be the only one that still looks unmolested. GL

            my 05 750 had 9200 when i got it . one small scratch on the back left upper plastic. needed nothing and runs really good. also came with a yoshi exhuast and helmet / bike cover. dude wanted 3500. he got 3300
            im an american proud and free , a son of the south dont tread on me.

                No, they don't.
                88-97 600 = 48.7mm
                89-97 750 = 44.72mm
                Unless he's talking about the post 98 engines. In which case, they do share the same stroke. I used to think the 600 was just a sleeved down 750, because that's what he said. Than I did it. I went to build a 600 that had 73mm pistons, which is 3mm over a stock 750 bore. You need a 750 cylinder block. In fact a 750 cylinder block doesn't even fit on a 600 upper crank case, you need to bore that out to make the OD of the 750 cylinder sleeves fit. You also need a 750 cylinder head for the larger valves to accommodate the larger bore. I took the advice also, I didn't know so I listened. Now I've actually done it, I'm telling you 100%, that is not the case.

                  Thanks for the update. When I do any updates I will make sure to research it through my shop manual. It is nice to know there is a larger engineered difference between a 750 and a 600. I look forward to pushing my 750 to the limits this spring. Thanks again.

                    Thanks I'm near Orland, and I've had my eye on that Naples one for several weeks already. That red one just came up this week, and i prefer it because its a late model. Still saving money... just closed on my house today, moving expenses, some remodelling.... mid february at the latest!
