  • 520 Chain conversion

I'm new to this site and am wondering if anyone has done a 520 chain conversion? My chain & sprockets are due for renewal and cant help but think the 530 is a little oversized and a expensive.

You can get an OE replacement 530 RK chain and Vortex sprocket kit from Bike Bandit for $116. I don't think that's overly expensive. Cheaper than the 520 conversion kits I've seen on Ebay.

I can see the performance increase by using the 520 but it won't last as long as the 530 in my opinion. I think it would stretch and wear out faster.

I hardly ever ride the thing so wear is not an issue. I'm more of a off road rider and looking at the tensile strengths and wear of modern d.i.d. chains they are prob as strong as a 530 from 15 years ago.
