  • New GSXR engine?

    Have a 85 kat 750.
was wondering if a newer GSXR 750 engine say mid to late 2000s could be swapped into these bikes?
I kno anything is possible with the right amount of modding but was wondering if its a feesable swap?
    thanks

A water cooled gsxr 750 engine into an oil cooled gsx frame?

    Good luck.
90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

No. Forget the idea. You CAN swap in an oil cooled GSXR motor though.

You need to custom fabricate most of the motor mounts on the frame to work that.

so nobody has ever done it or..?
The hole air cooled deal gives me the willeys.
Iv had old suzuki air cooled dirt bikes and cooked the engine riding on a HOT day.
As far as converting to oil cooled, by the time i buy and most likely rebuild that engine convert to efi and get it close to the power that the stock water cooled one is making Id probably spend just as much money and imo have a more reliable engine.
Im NO expert with these engines tho so.. i could be very wrong.
Im not looking for an argument just facts.
          thanks

Not that I'm aware of. Everything would be a one off.

You'll likely have issues with exhaust, and getting the offset right on the swinger.

Old Skool Suzuki might be a good reference too.

The bottom line, is that it's not a direct bolt in job. It's possible to do, yes given enough time, money, and effort.

Not the sort of thing we've really seen much around here, folks working with the kats tend to stick with the oil cooled motors.

In fact, they often swap the newer motors into the 1g kats.
