I wanted to get a chrome looking mirror to accent my bike. After looking online I found a set that mounted by screwing 1 threaded rod into a mirror mount hole. They also came with a little piece of plastic that would cover the hole in the fairing that the stock mirrors rubber boot covers...or so I thought. When I got them the plastic thing was way too small. After my friend and I stared at it for a while we decided that the best thing to do was cut some blocks out of aluminum and see how that goes. They turned out great...and also double for mirror blocks if you want to remove them all together. For anyone who runs into this problem in the future, this may help you get the ball rolling.
This is what we started with...you can see where we cut the blocks out.
This is the finished product after sanding and polishing.
Pretty darn good for handmade using scrap aluminum, a hacksaw, a file, sandpaper and a buffing wheel.
