  • Raising the rear

Has any one raised the back end of they're Kat? I thought I seen a thread once but can't find it. I'd like to come up an inch or so.

send a PM to ne-oublie and tell him you want to raise the rear 1". He custom fabricates dogbones (at least for the 98+ models) that do just that (well, actually I do to, but I'd like to see him get the business, and I'm out of them right now). Pre-98? Sorry, no solution that I know of at this point.

    Cheers,

You can do it yourself also.
Cut the dog bone in half, remove max 3/8 inch reweld together. and it will raise the rear 2.5". In your case around 1/4" should do it.

DO NOT CUT AND REWELD YOUR EXISTING LINKS, in my opinion this is not safe practice.I know people do it, but is compromising your life, and the life of others worth it, for the sake of $35.00.Just my 0.02c.
Ok, no more mister nice guy, i've met the guy in the street, and he's a wanker.

            +1

The ones he fabricates are solid milled pieces. The ones I do use special shorter suzuki-supplied bones.

I can make them, but they would be very expensive to reproduce. Unlike the post 98's, the pre's are a casting, and would be quite labor intensive to make, in one piece.I wish i could make them cheaper Maybe i will take a look at them again.

What is the handling (or other?) benefit of raising the rear?

For me, the benifit was the raise in height. I am 6'5", and the bike kinda felt a little short. After raising it though, it seems to "Fit" me a lot better. That and my legs stretch out nicer at stops. I also like the looks of the rear with it wider open.
