    johnny,

I was having that stuff too on the 1989 I'm
coaxing out of hibernation sickness. The soaking
took twice and pulling out many of the brass bits also.
Got new coils from Bikebandit and together the bike
runs excellent. Starts w/ 3/4 choke at the touch of the button
and is performance driveable in 5 min or less. The petcock is
getting better with the Seafoam running thru the system currently too.
    (new lines already onboard)

Me hopes you have great results on that '88 !!

It all worked great and was worth the effort last week. Overnight soak for each carb, blew out all the passages with a little higher air pressure, and the new coils was all I guess it needed. Right from prime startup to off choke in about 60 seconds, and runs so much smoother. Running a jet kit and Vance & Hines setup, since it is what I had back in 88. 2 turns out on the pilot screws. Good balance off the bench and the power feel stronger than back in the day. Running .050 over rings and bored the cylinders over to match since they had pitting. Literally feels like new. This is awesome. All the idle bs went away too.
