  • clear coat

okay so i went out and painted my bike. Everything is going well but when i go to put the clear coat on magically the paint turns colors. Most of it looks good because it dries and its protected. But some parts look blotchey and a lighter color. What happened

Did you get the clear coat that was designed to go with the base coats? (Same brand and type)

Did you let the base coats dry enough?

        LET IT DRY!

Clear takes usually at least 24 hours to dry, usually more like a full week to get any thick or runned areas to turn clear again. A milky or yellowish haze is normal. You just don't see the chemical reaction happen in your base becasue it's colored but it is in fact doing the same thing.

The only other possibility is that you didn't get your base thick enough and what you are seeing is primer showing through the low coverage areas.

Chances are though it's probably just needing some time to dry out. Rushing paint dry time is one of the most common and worse mistakes made.
