  • Fuel Resistant Clear Coat

How important is it to use fuel resistant clear coat? I have a chip on the side of my tank towards the rear of the tank. I was going to pick up some Color Rite spray cans to repair it.

Do I need to spend $30 to buy their fuel resistant clear coat?

Can I get away to standard clear coat being that the chip is not close to the filler neck?

I would use Dupli-Color. How often do you really get gas down there? And it will save you a bunch of money. If you do happen to get some gas down there, just make sure to wipe it up qucik with some paper towles or something. I think you would be fine with the Cheaper Dupli-Color stuff.

Just because I feel like bringing up an old subject , color rite says that you just HAVE to use their clearcoat for a proper paint/clearcoat bond. Is there any problem in using Dupli-Color clearcoat with Color Rite paint that you know of, Lou?
