I was wondering what the purpose of the 12v relay located right by the battery...its attached to the some sensor or computer hook up that just clips to the battery box? The wires are orange/green and light blue...dk if that helps at all...

Top ten Reasons it is not your Starter relay:
10. The Starter relay is round.
9. The Starter relay is about 5 time larger then the Turn relay
8. The Starter relay has 4 wires
7. The Starter relay is connected to the Battery cable and... The starter cable
6. The Starter relay is located under the right side cover
5. The Turn relay is mounted to the battery box the Starter is mounted to the frame.
4. The Starter goes "clack"
3. The Turn relay goes "tick"
2. The Turn relay and Starter relay have different colored wires.
And the # 1 reason is... Black_Peter said so!
OK ten wasn't as easy as I thought,

Well no.
If you tried to run the starter off the turn signal relay you would get a bunch of smoke.
If you tried to run the starter relay with the signal from the turn relay the engine wouldn't start with the starter button.
I was being pretty sarcastic but bottom line it that the starter relay and the turn relay are pretty hard to swap/ mix up..

I know this thread is old, but I am new here and it seems to be the only place were I can get the answers I'm looking for... The 93 katana I just bought seems to be missing the turn signal relay. I believe they just chopped it off and taped the wires up... Should I attempt to splice into them to get my turn signals to blink again, and if so, what colors are negative, positive and lights of the 3 wires?
