I think those bars a part of the "I use to ride a harley" Recovery program. They start out with having you place you ape hangers on you current bike. This guy has moved to the next step. Going from Apes to a ram horn configuration. Hopefully he can move to the standard bars after he completes his fifth week of counseling. The problem in this step is getting him to give up the fringe on his brake and clutch levers. No doubt he is still trying to park his Kat at the local bar next to his buddies 108" Fat boy. This will eventually lead to rejection by his previous community of posers. This rejection will be a difficult time for him as he will feel isolated by the American iron Crowd and not yet accepted by the sport riding community. But this is good news as it will lead to the nessesity of actually learning to ride and enjoy the joys of sport bikes. Thus completing his transition and becoming welcomed into his new group of Alpha male riders.
It is a pity so many don't see this affliction for what it is, but we should applaud the courage that this man has exhibited in his recovery.
