If it's just not moving the most common fix is to soak the track and beads down with WD-40. The grease thickens up until the windshield can't move.

This is the way mine was,gummed up with cakey old grease. Sprayed liberally with WD and kept working it up and down. It free'd up nicely. Cleaned it all out and then applied white grease liberally. Still working fine 2 years later.1990 GSXF 1100

+1 on the caked-up sticky old grease. the bummer is though have to pull upper fairing. See my other post where I encountered the windshield guides were all broken up inside the tracks and had to improvise a fix which turned out to work excellent.
with the fairing off now is the time to do something else worthwile, the coil relay mod.Do the thing you fear most, and the Death of fear is most certain.
