"my brother taught me to always lean the opposite way as the bike"

My little sister did that the first time I took her for a ride . I immediately pulled over and told her that she almost killed us (almost made me run off the road when she did that) , and to NEVER do that again . First thing I tell anyone now is "you are DEAD WEIGHT and I control the bike . Fight me , and it'll be YOU that runs us off the road" . Have them pretend they're a sack of potatos or something . I'd rather them sit still than try to help .

i had that happen to me ONCE! i was in a right turn and she leaned the other way when we were 1/2 way through. i was totally not expecting it and it shot us right across the yellow line into the other lane. and yes, there was a car coming. it took a stiff counter-steer PLUS leaning to get back in my lane. 3 or 4 seconds later and we would have been hitching a ride on the hood of a sport utility. it was one of my scariest moments on a bike.
