Removing seat/rear fairing only?

Is it possible on a post kat, (UK 2000 GSX600F Y), to remove the rear/seat fairing without first having to remove the belly pan, side light, screen, mirrors and both side panels? I'm fitting a scottoiler and really don't want to spend the majority of my time dismantling and reassembling body work for the sake of a pretty quick install job. Any suggestions, tips, info much appreciated.
