  • upgrade ignition coils?

unexpectedly, my ignition coils are dead. it has been a little over 10,000 miles since they were put in. aren't they supposed to last the life of the bike?

visibly they are okay, but 2,3 is dead.

used stock parts are inexpensive, but i'm considering replacing with modern high performance coils.

    any recommendations?

I'm running Dyna coils on two of my bikes, no complaints.

I'm using Accel coils....both the Dogs coils and mine will give you a nice "feel" .

thanks for the suggestions. i heard the dynatech coils have a limited lifespan in exchange for the extra power. but they may be worth a try. it isn't as if the conservative coils gave me much mileage before prematurely dying.

Dyna coils or any aftermarket coils with the OEM CDI unit are worthless. If you upgrade to Dyna coils without the Dyna 2000 ignition module, you have improved nothing.

I think he improves the ability to ride the bike....he has a dead coil. Just sayin'...

For me I know it didn't increase horsepower or anything like that but it did improve the feel of the bike as I accelerate. Now that could be because os new wires and coils.
