    Hi all,

I am currently in the market for my first bike and the katana has slowly been creeping up the list during my shopping. Hoping to learn more about these bikes to help with the decision.

    cheers!

Katana's are real reliable. If you keep the carbs cleaned and take care of it, the bike will last you a very long time...

Good bike.. sporty (ish), fairly easy to work on... fairly reliable, pretty much bullet proof engine. Plus a metric Azzton of info on this site.

                      no diggity.

and to be completely honest, the family-like feeling from other katana riders on this site would be more than enough to make me buy a katana had i not already had one.
i don't get the same feeling from any other mc site i'm on. not even close.

Welcome. Sit on an R1 and imagine riding like that for 100 miles... then do the same with a Katana. I think you'll make the right choice.

Since you live in Calgary I'd say a snowmobile is more what you need than a motorcycle (although kat_kitten loves the snow and wouldn't move to anywhere else in the world ), but if you're looking for Katana info you came to the right place

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome!

I spent a good 4 hours reading through threads and the wiki last night and the more I read about these bikes, the better they sound for what I'm looking for.

I am taking a motorcycle course May 31-June 3 (classroom is tonight) and I'm hoping to have a bike by June 5. Unfortunately I haven't found many good Katana deals here in Calgary but there are some good looking units about a 3 hour drive away. And till i get a bike, you're stuck with my mug for an avatar
