  • Product Reveiw: Battery Charger

    Schumacher SC-600A

    Fully automatic
6 amp medium charge monitors battery condition and adjusts charge rate downward to prevent battery damage, for car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, lawn tractor lead acid
4 amp medium charge has self-adjusting charge rate ideal for everyday charging needs and keeping your battery in peak condition
2 amp slow charge for charging small batteries and maintaining large ones, charges motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, and lawn tractor batteries
50 amp clamps for top and side-mounted battery posts

I purchased this a few weeks ago when I noticed my bike battery would die in cold weather if I didn't ride it for a few days. Since I started using the 2 amp charge/maintain on this it is always ready go. For the small investment it has been an excellent tool and I recommend it. If you need a charger/maintainer check them out.

I have battery chargers to but I dont like most of the cheaper smart chargers or automatic chargers. I use a professional grade with initionalizer for new batteries

I'm also sold on the battery tender brand units now. I've got a 2 bank unit on the bikes.

I had a die-hard branded unit before that I would switch back and forth between the batteries. When it indicated "fully charged" I switched one of the batteries over to the battery tender. The Batter Tender brand unit went into full charge mode immediately. The smart tech is a wise choice, especially since you can get a Battery Tender Jr. for $20 on Amazon.

what burns them out quickly is people trying to charge abattery with them. they are a store float charger and nothing more. they are designed only to provide current flow to a fully charged battery.

The Batteries in my boat are 10 years old and sit on a float charge 9 months of the year. Im only on my second battery in my 95 VT600. it is also always plugged into the float charger when its not being used for more then a couple days.

I have a battery tender jr as well thats hooked up to my dirtbike, but its a live ignition and never stored and the battery often gets drained when just playin around the yard.
