I've got a line on a good deal for an '02 750 engine, is the power difference noticeable enough to swap it into my '06 600 or should i hold out for something better to come along?

well, it depends the 750 is better, but a 98+ 750 is worse then a pre 98 750.

      Heck yeah it's worth it. I swapped a 01 750 into my 91 600 and it's a BIG difference.

The difference between pre 750's and 98+ 750's is MINIMAL. And that is negated by the fact that most of the pre 750's will be ALOT older and have more miles.

the motor im looking at will run me about $500 with shipping and it has only about 7k miles on it. The only thing i'd need to switch is my carbs right? The starter, alt, cdi, etc is all the same?

You'd probably want the bigger 750 oil cooler also.

The CDI box will work. Just the rev limit will be different.

I know that, hence, not the same.

But your post makes it sound to a new member that it won't work. That's why I posted saying it will, but have a different rev limit.

                      Correct.
You will need the 750 carbs.

sorry if I made it sound like it won't work. That is not the case, The rev limiter is the only difference.

No problem. Im not really a newb, just haven't needed to post until now. I've got a TON of car experience but am just getting into working on bikes. I've read through the engine swap thread also.

I ended up just getting an awesome deal on a 88' kat 750 engine. I bought it since it was cheaper and also supposedly has 106hp stock. Will CDI and carbs still be the only thing i need for this swap?
