  • PLEASE HELP! Idle Problem/throttle problem?

I replaced the clutch cable. Put everything back together. Had a bit of trouble starting. Putters a bit. However when giving it just the smallest bit of throttle the rpms jump really high and stay there for 30 seconds. I noticed a small crack in the gas tank. I drained all the old gas out. (havent put any new in yet.) Could it be that rain got in the gas and was mixing weird with the oil?? Or is it somthing else??

Vacuum leak. Use starter fluid, Brakleen or other flammable fluid to check. SPray around all the carb boots and vacuum hoses. If the RPM goes up, you found your leak.

OR a sticking throttle cable - check that its routed properly or you didnt bump it and mess that up - easy enough

I agree with the vacuum leak suggestion, but I am curious how you would have gotten one. The clutch cable on my bike is routed around the carbs, but even before when it was routed between carbs 1 and 2 I wouldn't have had to remove anything that deals with vacuum other than the tank...
